Studies on the activities of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide glycohydrolase from mouse Ehrlich ascites tumor cells treated with thioacetamide

Abstract
The thioacetamide has been shown to have marked effects on the metabolism and morphology of animal cells. In the present studies, the activity of the enzyme, nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide glycohydrolase (NADase), the concentrations of nicotinamide adenine .dinucleotide (NAD) and proteinn have been determined in Ehrlich ascites tumor., cells from thioacetamide-treated and control mice.
The results were as follows:
1. The NADase activities` of homogenate and. nuclei Wascites cells from Ehrlich ascites tumor-bearing mice showed to increase two fold over control values after administration o` chioacetamide. in a dose of 50 mg per kg body weight. NADase activity of homogenate as well as cell nuclei reached its maximun value at 6-12 hours after treatment. There was no marked difference, in each responses due to the 50 mg and 100 mg of thioacetamide doses per kg of body weight.
2. Ehrlich ascites cells From :mice treated with thioacetamide had a lower. level of NAD than that of untreated mice.
3. As compared with the ascites cells from control, mice, cells from the thioacetamidetreated mice showed -an increase in the contents of protein.
